Black is making two threats here: to cut through the center with F6**, or to cut across the top with G3*.

Variation II. Suppose White now plays 5.C4:

This isn’t as good here as it was in variation I. The problem is, Black’s E4 peg is close enough to make some serious threats. Specifically, Black can play 6.B5!

Question 4: If White now plays 7.I5* how does Black win? Answer
Question 5: If White instead plays 7.I7* how does Black win? Answer
