Prizes

  • First Place - Winner cup, NSC original T-shirt & Sydney-Olympic designed scrabble set

  • Highest Loss - Mr. Shirasaki (407 vs 448 by Mr. Geamsakul)

  • Best Autumn/Mountain-related Word - READINGS (86) by Mr. Nakai
Generally in Japan, reading, sports, art, appetite, etc. associate with Autumn. Is that so in other countries? Other nominees: LEAFIEST, CROP, PINE, STRAY, etc.

  • Best Bingo - Ms. Okamoto's REERRING*??!!
Strange News: The word was played in R9, erroneously adjudicated as acceptable. Other nominees: EISWEIN, FRIVOLS, FROCKED, MILEAGES, PRELUDE, ULULATE, etc. It was not before the tournament was over that players noticed it was phoney. Yes, it sure was the best bingo which fooled all the participants!
Other Records

  • High Game Individual - 505 by Mr. Geamsakul

  • Best Extension - DISCONTENT (39) by Mr. Abraham
Stretched CONTENT by adding DIS to TWS.

  • Highest Bingo - HURTLING (98) by Mr. Abraham
We really thank all people concerned for success of the tournament. We hope the event of this size will be held in Western Japan annually at this time of the year, and that the participants and scrabble fans in Japan will increase.
