Commentary
UNQUIET for 142 points is my highest one-turn move ever in a tournament. Most of the earnest scrabbler players have a higher record, I guess. But mine is not a nine-timer. In my twelfth turn, when I was thinking of playing QUID(E11a), the play was blocked by COS. So DUUMVIR(F8d) came to my mind, keeping Q. I was sure of "I"-hook, learned by flash card. My tile tracking was correct: unseen 2 U's and 3 I's. I thought at least I could play QI, hooking to duumvir. Then what happened was the VARIANTS(C13a) bingo played by Anne. As I picked up the tiles on my rack, QUIET appears, then U and N! I will never forget that unbelievable moment. She could have blocked my last play by hooking "S" to DUUMVIR. -- Kc Hirai
