means that Philippe Juhem came first, with 20 "demi-points" (a French Othello counting system), i.e. ten wins, and with a Brightwell number of 890.

The Brightwell number is the total disc count in all a player's games plus (sum of opponents' scores)*(64/number of rounds played). This is a runic but now universally used tie-breaker.

The "7" is the player's "Othello number", which is how he is denoted in various databases - this is conferred at one's first tournament and retained for life. - Aubrey de Grey)

Final :

Juhem 31-33 CASPARD
Caspard 32-32 Juhem
JUHEM 37-27 Caspard

Philippe Juhem keeps his title and wins for the fifth time (1989, 1992, 1993, 1998, 1999) the French championship.

LOGISTELLO BOOK GOES PUBLIC

Michael Buro has put top Othello program Logistello's book skeleton (i.e. self-played games) on his webpage.

He says:
"Feel free to study those games for improving your (or your bot's) openings. Since L doesn't participate in regular Othello tournaments anymore there is not point in hiding its book. Note, however, that the file only contains played games without deviation evaluations."
