Part II: Pre-day 1 diversions!
Computer Shogi is serious business, but this is Tokyo, and we were also going to enjoy ourselves! We had scarcely got off the plane when we dumped our kit and immediately headed for the Tokyo nightlife, jet-lagged or not. The ISP and previous CSA had provided much social entertainment (see ISF99.HTM). This was the first disappointment. Our favorite, the highly sociable and famous "Gas Panic" bar had, along with others, been barred from allowing dancing. Gone was the open space, now cluttered by bolted down tables. This somewhat stifled the normal frenzied atmosphere of this great night spot. Rather than give up, we researched potential alternative venues by recommendation (for the next outing). All those people that normally jam-pack Gas Panic must have gone somewhere. We got two names but never got the chance: "Pyron" and "Fula" around Shibuya. Anyone reading this with a good recommendation please mail me.
Jet-lag eventually took over that night and we trouped back to the Sheraton. ZZZzzzz.....
