It seems Anand and Kasparov will not be playing a match this year. Anand could not come to terms so the offer of a match is now in Kramnik's lap. GM Baburin is having great success playing in the USA, but will continue to live in Ireland. Kavalek writes about the dramatic personal life of Shirov.

El Pais
Leontxo Garcia reports in Tuesday's El Pais that Anand has rejected the offer to play a match with Kasparov. Apparently, Anand wanted an advance of $300,000.
Ray Keene is quoted as saying that that condition seemed unsuitable. The offer for a match has now passed to Kramnik, who apparently has until 4 April to give his answer. A press conference is planned for 5 April at Simpson's restaurant in London.

Baburin. "But I like it here and it would be quite a big move."
