The tournament favourite had a tough time this round against another young opponent and looked for a while as though he might only make a draw. White played the endgame remarkably well for several moves, in particular his idea of 26 Nc2-e3 and 27 Rd1-d7 gave him the initiative. But in the end experience told. As the players became very short of time the black king managed to do some damage and when White finally lost on time his position was hopeless.
