Polgar Pounds Timman
Judit Polgar grabbed the lead after 3 rounds of the Japfa Classic in Bali, Indonesia after defeating Jan Timman with the Queen's Indian. Most of the pieces were exchanged quickly, and Polgar outplayed him in the ending. After a great deal of maneuvering in a queen+rook ending, Karpov and Milos finally agreed to a draw. Gunawan's passed pawn reached the 7th rank, but could go no further, so Khalifman got the draw. Adianto answered Ehlvest's Grunfeld with the g3 line, and won in 30 moves when Ehlvest missed Adianto's rook sack on h7 leading to a forced mate. It took Seirawan and his Caro-Kann 56 moves to stop Zaw in a double rook and pawn ending, so full credit to the "Myanmar Mauler" for hanging in there so long.
