Zvjaginsev Wins on Tiebreaks!

Vadim Zvjaginsev won the Julian Borowski tournament with 5˝ points. The 23-year-old Russian GM won on tiebreaks over Dreev and Bischoff. Dreev had been leading the tournament but could only draw with tail-ender Glek in the final round (it was actually a 16-move draw), while Bischoff and Zvjaginsev were winning.

Alexey Dreev is poised to win the Julian Borowski tournament as he enjoys a half-point lead with only one round left to play. Three players are right behind: Beliavsky, Zvjaginsev, and Bischoff.

In the final round, Dreev faces basement-dweller Igor Glek.

Dreev Hangs onto Lead

Alexey Dreev hung onto his lead after the seventh round of the Julian Borowski tournament in Germany. Dreev drew Bischoff and leads Beliavsky and Zvjaginsev (who drew their game together) by half-a-point.

Bischoff-Dreev was a 16-move grandmaster draw, as was Zvjaginsev-Beliavsky (a coincidence, no doubt). Sutovsky made quick work of Dautov's Caro-Kann.

Dreev Still Atop the Scoreboard

Alexey Dreev maintained a half-point lead at the Julian Borowski tournament in Germany by drawing Zvjaginsev. Dreev has 4 points; 3 players are nipping at his heels with 3˝. Dreev-Zvjaginsev was a quick little 18-move draw.

Dreev Replaces Beliavsky at the Top

Alexey Dreev captured the lead in the Julian Borowski tournament Sunday. Dreev beat Hansen while former leader Beliavsky lost to Huebner.

After a Caro-Kann opening, Hansen made a silly blunder on the 40th move and had to resign.

Beliavsky Takes Lead after 4th Round
