This year’s Gold Cup has reached the quarter-final stage, and in the one match played, Ken Ford of Sussex (Ian Swanson, John Sadler, Doug Smerdon, Geoffrey Breskal and David Edwin), originally unseeded, has defeated Mike Pownall of Dorset (Peter Goodman, Filip Kurbalija and Ted Martin). In the semi-final to be played in Peebles on 9 December, Ken’s team will play the winner of David Mossop (Tony Forrester, Jason & Justin Hackett, Tim Rees, Andrew McIntosh) and Liz McGowan (Ken Baxter, Brian Short, Jack Paterson, Ian Crorie, James McGeorge).
