You reach six spades after West has overcalled One Heart. The lead is the K. Plan the play before reading on. Testing trumps and then playing on diamonds looks to be quite a good line of play. But it doesn't work here, however you play the diamonds:

With the spades breaking 4-1, declarer is in trouble. As always, you should start by counting your tricks. You have five tricks outside trumps, a virtually solid trump suit and shortages in each hand. How about a cross-ruff? Win the heart lead and play out your clubs, discarding diamonds from dummy. Now play ace and another diamond. West wins and will probably play a heart. All you need to do is cash the king of spades and cross-ruff.

"The problems are well chosen and of increasing difficulty" David Bird, Evening Standard
