MSO World Wide Charity Simultaneous Pairs
Tuesday 22 & Wednesday 23 August 2000

July 2000

Ideas, Ideas!

The MSO World Wide Charity Simultaneous Pairs being held on 22 & 23 August is to raise money for three major Charities

The Save the Children Fund - British Heats
The ACBL Educational Foundation - ACBL Heats
IRME (Institut de la Recherche sur la moelle épinière, this is a charity for spinal cord research) - all other heats

These are, as you will all agree, very worthwhile Charities and deserve as big a cheque as we can give them at the end of the day. We need to ensure that as many people as possible play in them so that is a good starting point !

Please advertise your heat as widely as possible so that bridge players come from far and wide to play in it.

But you could also do some extra fund raising … then when you send the entry fees to your Federation, please add on the extra amount you have collected, and let them know how much it is so that when they send the money in to us we can keep it separate and add it to the Charity cheque.

So what could you do?

Well, the obvious one is to run a raffle - perhaps you could persuade someone to give you a prize or two and just run a simple raffle. Or maybe your players could look for some sponsors? If each player managed to get sponsors to give them some money for each game they bid and made, with a bonus for a slam bid and made, we could raise quite a lot of money that way.

I am sure there are other ways that you can think of to raise extra funds. If you have some good ideas do email me - wbf@ecats.co.uk - and I will add them to this page.

Let's try and create a really great event and help the Charities at the same time!
