MARCH 2000
European Poker Players' Association
Link of the Week, 30th March to 5th April 2000
Our favourite poker site with comprehensive information
about the poker clubs, tournament circuit and biggest-name
players in Europe. Other features include information on
the European governing body of poker, as per the site's
title; also a selection of top-quality articles from
"Poker Europa", only otherwise available in cardrooms.
It's Your Turn
Link of the Week, 23rd to 29th March 2000
Some people prefer to play games by e-mail and think
for hours, days or weeks between moves; this site is
an excellent way to play if that's your interest. A wide
variety of games on offer, a thriving tournament circuit
and a good community. Works well for those who can't
run our games software, too.
tantrix.com - Play Tantrix
Link of the Week, 16th to 22nd March 2000
Tantrix is a modern proprietary game using a set
of 56 hexagonal Bakelite tiles marked with combinations
of red, green, blue and yellow lines in which you compete
to make the longest lines or loops you can of the colour
of your choice. On the site, you can either solve
pattern-forming puzzles or join the dedicated following
of online players, maybe even in the Pan-American championships
which are taking place at the moment.
"American Crossword Puzzle Tournament"
Link of the Week, 9th to 15th March 2000
The excellent site of this weekend's #1 mind sports event;
hundreds of solvers will descend upon Stamford, CT to solve
US-style crosswords, and you can join in solving the same
puzzles over the Internet. Extensive background about
crosswords and the tournament; handsome design.
"Ajedrez 21 - Linares 2000 live!"
Link of the Week, 2nd to 8th March 2000
Superlative Spanish-language live coverage appropriate for
such a strong tournament which features an excellent
combination of live move updates, text chat room, live audio
streaming commentary and game pictures. This represents the
standard that we will have to try to match in our own live
chess coverage on Saturday 4th.
"Toronto Xiangqi Association"
Link of the Week, 24th February to 1st March 2000
In last week's poll, Xiangqi was the game that fewest people
were too afraid to learn - so here's the best starting-point
for Chinese Chess coverage in the West. Learn all there is to
learn about the world's top stars and see why they're so good
in the 1700-game database. The site includes software, endgame
tuition, gameplay puzzles and more.
