If you're interested in helping out with MSO 6 to get some
valuable commercial experience, let us know. We have vacancies
for people interested in event management and web site work.
If there's some other field that you would prefer to get some
work experience in, drop us a line and we'll see if we can come
up with an imaginitive solution. We would be particularly
keen to hear from people who are prepared to volunteer to work
on the registration desk, at least for some of our busiest hours.
Work experience places must unfortunately be restricted to
those who live in the Loughborough area or who can stay in the
Loughborough area. We regret that we cannot assist with accommodation
costs and cannot pay you for your work. However, it will be
a tremendous opportunity to get something distinctive and
impressive to list on your CV and we will happily supply you
with a reference if your work is satisfactory. Furthermore,
it's an excellent way to make interesting and influential
contacts in the world of mind sports. It'll be hard work,
but it's tremendous fun!
If you're interested in getting work experience at MSO 6,
please send a CV and a covering letter
clearly stating what relevant experience you have and
what experience you would be looking for to
Tony Corfe. We would
prefer CVs to be sent as plain text, formatted to no more than
72 columns width.
Case study: this page is being written by MSO Worldwide webmaster
Chris Dickson, who took part
in work experience at MSO 2 in exactly this way. Part of my time
was spent making friends on the registration desk, part of my time
was spent producing web site coverage of the event. It worked out
really well and people were happy enough with my work to employ me
to work for real money later. My work experience at MSO 2
dramatically changed my life and I'd recommend
it to anyone who was seriously interested. Of course there can be no
guarantees, but I'd be happy to discuss my experiences by
e-mail
with anyone who wanted to know more. Ask me about picking up
Georgians from Heathrow airport...
