This year's Olympiad Quiz Championship has been exclusively
brought to you by Challenge TV.
The channel will shortly be launching a new TV quiz show, "Stake Out";
they will be recruiting for contestants at the Olympiad. As a bonus, you
can practice playing the game in the Olympiad Quiz Championship - get
some practice at the Olympiad then clean up on the real show!
The most important difference between the TV show and the Olympiad
Quiz Championship is that the Olympiad Quiz Championship is played
for fictional money only - once you have paid your entry fee,
you don't need to risk any more of your own cash on your prowess at
the game. Note that we expect, subject to confirmation, that every
participant in the Olympiad Quiz Championship should get the chance
to play at least two games of Stake Out and can watch their fellow
contestants play seven more - so you'll get a memorable day's quiz
for your money!
Stake Out is a brand new television quiz show with a difference and it is produced for Challenge TV.
Contestants bring up to four friends as financial backers, as a team they must raise £250 to bring to the table. How you raise the £250 is up to you, whether you have a whip round at work, are part of a pub quiz league, or re-mortgage your house, the decision is yours! In return Challenge TV will match the stake so that each contestant begins the game with £500.
In studio only the contestant plays, however the backers are involved as they sweat it out behind their player commenting on his or her performance whilst watching their money double, treble or crash.
Contestants are given an indication of forthcoming questions e.g. the next round is based on James Bond films - your confidence in the subject matter will determine how much money you wish to stake on answering the question correctly. The stakes are raised throughout the game and the eventual winner can lay claim to loads of cash in one game.
The winner has the option to roll over onto the next game and can stay at the table for up to a total of three games. Stake Out is exciting, great to watch, heart stopping to play and is the only game on telly that really does involve putting your money where your mouth is.
Players need to have a good general knowledge and nerves of steel, so if Millionaire's a doddle and you're a hot shot at poker then this is the game for you.

Something to remember for potential contestants is that because the champions of each show can roll over to complete up to three shows, you will be asked to give us two days of your time. Of course if you get knocked out you will only compete in one show and then can go home.
