Yesterday's Decamentathlon raised the issue of "Weighted results", as some disciplines seemed to be easier than others... Should events be weighted? We say let the playing public decide - give us your views!

After another absorbing match, which kept spectators glued to the demo board, Matthew Macfadyen retained his British Go Title with a 3-1 victory... Commiserations to this year's tenacious challenger, Young Kim, but despite an upset in game 3, Matthew seems to have made this title part of his name!

Ron Banwell Masters - Lead Changes again!

Graeme Buckley's reign at the top proved short-lived as Dimitri Agnos moved smoothly into 1st place today. 4 Challengers, Kunte, Harikrishna, Gormally and Buckley, remain just ½ point behind on 6½/9.

"Ron Banwell - Unknown Postcard Artist"

John Rogers will be giving a ½ hour talk and slide show, on the life & work of Ron Banwell, whom some may only know as the "sponsor" of the Ron Banwell Masters Chess event. Venue: Chiswick Town Hall, Heathfield Terrace W4 - 8pm Friday 21 September 2001. Entry fee 75p (includes refreshments).

On the reverse of the newletter were these two pictures:
