Speed Reading Champ ups a gear
With a blistering pace, needing to break only while
turning the corners, Anne Jones secured her 5th
successive Olympiad Speed-Reading Championship.
Former World Speed-Reading Champion read Paulo Coelho's
new (unpublished) work "The Devil and Miss Prym" in
just 20.29 minutes. That's 38 words a second! - Enough
to send the even the most dedicated word lovers scrabbling
for cover.
Young Kim too was in blistering form as he wove his
black stones around defending British Go Champion,
Matthew Macfadyen. In this battle of life and death
Kim finally triumphed on the board only to lose after
5.5 Komi points were taken into account.
Even closer was the result of the Continuo World
Championship. 4 Players shared 1st place on 4/6
and tie-breaking rules were required to find a winner.
The Arbiters took charge of Tori Shogi in fine style,
explaining not only the rules of this distinct game,
but how to win as well!

Danny Gormally and GM Abhijit Kunte weathered the storm
against Colin Crouch. Colin McNab won a fine game to join
the leaders on 2.5/3. Neil McDonald remains the sole
Englishman at the top.
Stewart Reuben will be producing more ace commentary on
various aspects of Poker tomorrow at 3.15. Full House expected.
Listen out for the World Service, expected to set different

send in captions for our photographs (overleaf).
