England climb to the top of the Medal tally!
(More startling news below!)

Ending a summer of discontent - and challenging the rest of the world to do better!

Pouring cold water on Bath-tub legend, Joseph Kollar's plans for the Pentamind is Belgium's Werner Dupont. Two fine results leave him high and dry on 147 points ahead of Joseph on 138. Despite active arbiter participation Demis Hassabis sweet talked his way to victory in Diplomacy giving him 100 points...

Commiserations to Liz Barker, winning the beginner's Backgammon - losing out on medallions; then losing out in Weekend Backgammon play offs for Gold, then losing out on tiebreak, and finally, despite the attention of wellwishers, carelessly, losing a winegum.

In the Masters Chess, the "Masters" are huddling together for protection, no one willing to claim an early lead. Jonathan Parker showed no such qualms, crushing opposition in the 5 minute Blitz chess.

Congratulations to John Rickard, who set a record 741/750 in the World Mental Calculations. 4 hours of testing questions brought only two mistakes... from the arbiter who had to change the official answers!
