We are pleased to announce what we have arranged with regard to the detailed playing schedule for the 4th Mind Sports Olympiad.
All prizes and entry fees are in pounds sterling (£) per player. Note that the full first entry fee given is for adults and the concessionary second entry fee (in brackets) is for junior entrants (under 16 on August 19th), entrants over 60 and entrants with disabilities.
Postal entries submitted on printed forms now attract a £5 late
Penalty Fee surcharge, but entries received over the Internet
with payment by 11:59pm BST on Thursday 17th August escape this
Penalty Fee. Note that this represents a change of policy; e-mailed
entries on Friday 18th August and later now do attract the Penalty Fee.
This year we have extended the Olympiad from 9 days to 10, again significantly increasing the number of tournaments on offer. For those who wish to take part in several tournaments we have a special entry fee of £75 (£30 for juniors, entrants over 60 and entrants with disabilities) for which you may enter as many events as you wish, excluding the MSO Chess Masters and any invitational or pre-qualification tournaments, provided the schedules do not conflict.
Almost all of the tournaments at the Mind Sports Olympiad are run on the Swiss system. This means that you do not get knocked out of a tournament if you lose a game - you continue to play against opponents who have approximately the same score as yourself and you continue to play every round no matter what your score may be.
We will make an entry form available on this web site very soon. Printed entry forms may be obtained by sending a large self-addressed envelope to:
Mind Sports Olympiad,
51 Borough Way,
Potters Bar,
Herts EN6 3HA,
England.
