] THE 4th MIND SPORTS OLYMPIAD IS GOING AHEAD!!

It is with the greatest possible pleasure that we announce that the
4th Mind Sports Olympiad will definitely take place in London, at
Alexandra Palace, from August 19th-28th as originally planned.

] MIND SPORTS OLYMPIAD 4 PLAYING SCHEDULE

This year we have extended the Olympiad from 9 days to 10, again
significantly increasing the number of tournaments on offer. Schedule
highlights include the European Shogi Championships, the World Memory
Championship, the Ron Banwell Memorial MSO Masters Chess event and,
in Bridge, the MSO Worldwide Simultaneous Pairs charity event.

In order to help our participants find inexpensive accommodation in
London which is close to Alexandra Palace, we are providing
information which will be updated from time to time. Please remember
that in the summer London is a very popular tourist destination, so
the inexpensive accommodation is very much in demand. We strongly
recommend that you book as soon as possible. Cheapest rates start

You must be a registered user on the MSO web site in order to
participate in any of our contests. If you haven't done so yet,
attempting to participate in any contest will bring you to a log in
screen where you can create your user profile. This user profile will
also allow you to do other things on the MSO web site such as
participating in the message boards and playing online games.

MSO's Trivia Contest, conducted by well-known trivia expert, Trevor
Montague, is designed to test your trivia skills. Which breed of dog
differs from all others by having a blue-black tongue? Who did Martina
Navratilova beat to win her ninth Wimbledon singles title in 1990?
Fifty multiple-choice questions, fifteen minutes, $500 for the winner.
A new contest takes place every second Saturday. Entry is free!

MSO's Creativity Contest, conducted by top author and columnist
William Hartston, is designed to get you thinking in new and
innovative ways. How many similarities can you think of between
Catherine Zeta-Jones and a plum? Do you have any original ideas for
things to do with large sea-shells? Add your thoughts or vote on
other people's ideas. A new free contest starts every second Sunday.

Every fourth Sunday, we challenge the greatest computer programmers

program size, speed of execution and speed of entry) wins $500.

Larry Kaufman learned Shogi by the traditional method of studying
handicap theory and he is now one of the leading experts in this
