    Boy, 8, defeats chess Grand Master


    Masterful . . . eight-year-old David Howell in action.

    AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD boy became the youngest person to beat a Grand Master at chess at a London tournament.

    David Howell, of Seaford, East Sussex, beat Grand Master John Nunn in a five- minute game at the Mind Sports Olympiad, at Olympia, London. Sidonie Henbest, spokeswoman for the tournament, said: "It is certainly quite unprecedented.

    "The previous person who held the record was two years older than David is now."
