Any MSOCON participant must pay the normal MSO9 entry fee if they also wish to participate in tournaments outside of MSOCON. MSOCON entries must be made on the separate MSOCON entry form.

PENTAMIND

  • WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
  • [A] To compete for the Pentamind medals, participants must enter tournaments for 5 or more different games or mental skills;
  • [B] At least one of these tournaments must each have playing times scheduled to last for three playing sessions or longer. Count one session if play is scheduled to be in progress at 11am, one session if play is scheduled to be in progress at 4pm and one session if play is scheduled to be in progress at 8pm.
  • [C] This year there is no requirement upon the total number of sessions, subject to [B] above.
  • [D] You will score Pentamind points according to where you finish in each tournament according to the formula: 100(p - n)/(p - 1) where p represents the number of players in the tournament and n represents the participant's position in the tournament.
  • [E] Not more than two games will be counted from the following MSO-Con competitions: Acquire, Age of Steam, Carcassonne, Lost Cities, Puerto Rico and Settlers of Catan.
  • [F] The participants with the highest total Pentamind scores from their 5 best tournaments for different games or mental skills will win the awards and the overall highest score wins the Pentamind championship.
  • [G] You may not include any beginners, novice, age-restricted or graded chess tournaments in your "5 best" results. The JKLM Taster Tournament and the Victor Ludorum competition also may not be included.
  • [H] A Pentamind participant who enters a tournament and then withdraws from it before playing at least half of the games will have that tournament included in his score calculations.
