8th Mind Sports Olympiad Results

We are pleased to announce the results from the 8th Mind Sports Olympiad, which took place in the Manchester Conference Centre at UMIST, between Thursday 19th August 2004 and Monday 30th August 2004.
BRIDGE (Duplicate) (in partnership with the English Bridge Union)
(Prize fund over £8,500 guaranteed)
- Please note that all entry fees are per player.
- All tournaments give Master Points.
- All sessions will be 24 boards.
- The following prizes have been made possible through the generous sponsorship of Mrs Brigitte Mavromichalis.
- These are the minimum guaranteed prizes. All events have prizes for a minimum of 12% of the entries.
- Note that entry to bridge events is not included in the standard £100 entry fee; entry to the entire bridge congress costs £140, £83 for veterans (over 65), £50 for juniors (under 25). To enter other events at MSO 8 as well as the entire bridge congress costs an additional £40.

Charity Tournament for Marie Curie Cancer Care
- CHANGED! Sunday 5th September, noon-5pm
- Entry fee: £25. Donations welcome.
- Late entry surcharge of an additional £5 only applies to entries made on the day.

- Special venue: the Sugden Sports Centre, which is half a mile away from the rest of the events (see map).

- Entry fee: £18 (£9) per day
- To qualify for the title you must play in four or more of these six tournaments:
1) Monday 23: Pot-Limit Five-Card Draw (starts 5:45pm)
2) Tuesday 24: Pot-Limit Seven-Card Stud (starts 5:45pm)
3) Wednesday 25: Pot-Limit Canadian Stud (starts 6pm)
4) Thursday 26: Pot-Limit Texas Hold'em (starts 6pm)
5) Friday 27: Pot-Limit London Lowball (starts 6pm)
6) Saturday 28: Pot-Limit Omaha (high only, starts 6pm)
- Pentamind: overall Amateur Championship, 15 hours
Pentamind: individual events, 5.5 hours (5:45pm start), 5 hours (6pm start)
- Heads-Up No-Limit Texas Hold'em Championship
- Sunday 29, 5:45pm-11pm and
- Monday 30, 11am-3pm
- Entry fee: £26 (£13)
- Pentamind: 9.5 hours
- Each match will be between two players, played to a time limit, and the player with the most chips at the end of that time is the winner of the match and advances to the next round.
- Pot-Limit Mexican Stud Tournament
- Monday 30, 11am-3pm
- Entry fee: £18 (£9)
- Pentamind: 4 hours
- Entry to the Mexican Stud tournament is at no extra fee to those who enter the Heads-Up No-Limit Texas Hold'em Championship and fail to qualify for the second day.
