Simultaneous Chess Display
A big thank you to everyone who helped in any way with last Saturday's simultaneous Chess event
at the Sugden Sports Centre.
Grandmaster Jonathan Rowson played 150 games simultaneously, beating the existing British record of
142 games that was set in December 1956. Geoff Martin, who set the previous record, had come
from the USA where he has been living for the past 30 years, to be present.
Our current estimate of the money that will be raised for the Kirsty appeal is £2,500.
We will have the exact figure by the end of the Olympiad.
An honorary gold medal was awarded to Grandmaster Jonathan Rowson (Scotland)
for breaking the British record for a simultaneous display. He played 150
games at the same time and 155 games in total, losing 1, drawing 13 and winning 141.
